1. What Personal Information About Users Does Back To 80s Collect?
Back To 80s collects information you provide (like name, email, and account preferences) and subscription status from payment partners—we don’t store full card numbers. We also automatically gather device and usage data (including IP-based approximate location, titles played, and diagnostics such as crashes or buffering); precise location is collected only if you enable it. If ad-supported features are used, we receive ad delivery/measurement signals, and we use cookies/SDKs to sign you in, remember settings, personalize content, and analyze performance; we may also receive basic profile or entitlement data from SSO, app stores, or device partners. We don’t seek sensitive data, the service isn’t intended for children, and we use aggregated/de-identified statistics for reporting and improvement.
2. Cookies and Web Beacons
Back To 80s uses cookies, local storage, SDKs, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, personalize content, perform analytics, and (where applicable) measure and deliver advertising. Web beacons (also called pixels or tags) help us understand page or email engagement—such as whether a message was opened or a feature was used—so we can improve performance and relevance. Some of these technologies are set by us and some by trusted partners that provide analytics, ads, or playback services; those partners may combine limited signals from our service with information from their systems as permitted by law. You can manage non-essential cookies through your browser or device settings and, where offered, our in-app consent tools; you may also reset or limit advertising IDs on mobile/CTV devices. Disabling certain cookies may affect site or app functionality.
3. Third Party Payment Gateway – Financial Information
Back To 80s uses trusted payment processors (e.g., card processors or app stores) to handle transactions; we do not see or store full card numbers or CVV, and payments are processed under PCI-DSS standards. We receive limited billing details (e.g., name, billing address, transaction IDs, subscription status, and sometimes the last four digits/expiry) to activate service, issue invoices/tax receipts, manage renewals, refunds, and fraud prevention. When you purchase via an app store, that store processes the payment and shares only entitlements/receipts with us—not your full financial data. We share only the minimum necessary information with payment partners and retain related records as required by law; you can update or remove payment methods through the payment provider or in your account where available.
4. Disclosure Children’s Privacy
Back To 80s is not directed to children under the age of digital consent (13 in the U.S., or as defined by local law), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn a child has provided data, we will delete it and may disable the account. Where a youth feature requires limited data, we first obtain verifiable parental consent and collect only what’s necessary. We use age-gating to help prevent underage sign-ups. Parents or guardians can request access to, or deletion of, a child’s information by contacting privacy@backto80s.com
5. Data transfer, storage & processing globally
Back To 80s operates internationally. Your information may be transferred, stored, and processed in countries other than your own (including the U.S. and EU), where privacy laws may differ. When we move data across borders, we use lawful safeguards—such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum, where applicable)—and require our service providers to follow binding data-protection and confidentiality obligations. We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures (e.g., encryption in transit and, where appropriate, at rest; access controls; auditing).
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described (and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements), after which we delete or de-identify it. If you are in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, you can request details of our transfer safeguards or exercise your privacy rights by contacting privacy@backto80s.com
